October Half-Term
Calm Creativity Workshop
for Parents/Carers & Children (6+)
A calm and relaxing session for parents and children to create autumnal art together.
We'll play with leaf collages, inky cobwebs and swirly watercolour ghosts, and create an oasis of calm and connection in the often hectic Halloween half-term.
The Stables Wellbeing
First Floor
1 North Street
Bromley BR1 1SB
Spaces are limited to 10 for a calm & quiet experience.
Children 6+ only admitted when accompanied by a parent/carer.
This is not a drop-off event.
This venue is on the first floor, with no disabled access currently .
What’s the workshop about?
This is not a chaotic half term kids club.
Most half-term art activities are a riot of mess and colour, and they can be great fun if that’s what your child enjoys. However, they can also be noisy, over-stimulating and stressful.
This event is for parents or carers and their children to spend time together in a calmer creative atmosphere.
It is specifically designed to enhance the parent-child bond by giving you both something mindful and creative to do with each other in a neutral space.
We will play with a range of different art techniques and materials, and you and your child can decide which to spend time on.
Our aim is that you will all leave the workshop feeling calm, centred, refreshed and energised.
Who is the workshop for?
This event is specifically for parents/carers & their children.
This is not a drop-off event: you will be co-creating with your child/children – chatting, sharing ideas, experimenting, and producing something tangible you have both contributed to.
The session is suitable for ages 6+. ND children are welcome; please contact us to let us know of any accommodations they might need and we will do our best to ensure they are comfortable.
PLEASE NOTE
The session is intended to be as calm and quiet as possible to enable everyone to enjoy a peaceful experience.
You are responsible for your child/children’s behaviour and whilst we do not wish to exclude anyone, if they disturb others excessively, you may be asked to leave or take a break.
What methods do you use?
We play with blind drawing, mindful patterns and watercolour.
But the sessions are not really about learning art techniques; they are about learning to slow down and be in the moment – to feel the tactile quality of the materials and experience the gentle movements of our bodies as a means to relax and power down.
What do I need to bring?
Nothing at all.
Materials will be provided, along with aprons if you wish, although you may prefer to wear old clothes if you don’t want to get too messy.
